Counseling (otherwise referred to as talk therapy, psychotherapy, or therapy) is where you can develop a relationship with a licensed professional who acts as a support system to help you change in any arena you want to, such as for drug rehabilitation or relationship therapy.
Whether you have been struggling with anxiety after becoming a new parent, have gone through a break-up or lost a loved one, or even want to change a behavior like smoking, lashing out at your partner, or others, Evolution Wellness can help. These counseling services are just some examples of what our professional counselors can treat .
Other reasons to reach out for an individual counselor:
- Low self-esteem
- Struggling with relationships
- Frequent arguments with a spouse/friend
- Excessive worry and stress
- Job changes
- Death of a family member or friend
- Lack of motivation
- Loss of interest in pleasurable activities
- Post Traumatic Stress
- Confusion about future goals
- Lack of concentration
- And more…
Your counselor will get to know you and your upbringing and will help you identify what you would like to work on. Then the magic starts. A counselor will help you examine and change your behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs to help you move towards your goals.
A counselor is 100 percent private and confidential. This means that no one will ever hear what you are talking about or that you are going to counseling. Another perk of seeing a professional counselor is that the sessions are all about you. Our professional counselors will never judge you, dump their own stress on you, or take away from what you are trying to accomplish.
What to expect?
When you initially call for a counseling service, the front desk staff will ask you questions about what you are struggling with, ideal appointment times, and whether you want to use insurance or not. They will pair you with the therapist that is the best fit for you and schedule your first appointment. During your first appointment, the counselor will ask you a bazillion questions about yourself to start to understand your world. Then, the sessions afterwards will be focused on helping you reach your goals, whether it be counseling for anxiety or counseling for depression for example. You don’t have to bring anything with you or prepare anything. However, some clients find it helpful to bring a notebook with them to jot down ideas they find helpful during their counseling sessions.
